Where I've been and other random crap

Well, I'm back. I was out of town with my dad for a few days. His brother is terminally ill and he was admitted to the hospital for evaluation. He was staying with my dad, but after this hospital visit, he'll be admitted to an assisted living facility. He has a tremendous amount of apprehension about going to this place. He asked my dad what the difference was between this place and an "old folks home".

He's being brave in the face of all that scares him. I never knew him very well. We always lived out of state. My dad's family seemed a little weird to us kids. We were raised knowing my mom's big, loud Italian clan. They're all fairly close-knit and constantly in each other's business.

My dad's family is an enigma. His dad died when my dad was quite young around 4. My grandmother remarried and then the step-father died when dad was 12 or so and then she died when he was 18. My dad was the youngest and I think after his mom died all the kids kind of scattered to the wind. Most all of the kids in that family suffer with alcohol addiction, so when we saw them their behavior was erratic; not exactly ideal for building relationships.

Anyway, we were never close to dad's family. My uncle "Red" was married and had 3 kids. The drinking and carousing caused that marriage to end and his kids all moved away from Montana. Now they've come back to help their dad, but you don't get the impression that they're close with him. They're doing what they're supposed to and it makes me kind of sad. If anything I'm reminded of the great influence I have on my own children. Those bonds can be so fragile.

Craig did so awesome with the kids while I was away. He's an incredible dad and is so supportive of me! I'm one lucky duck. It was nice to let the boys miss me. They were all glad to see me when I returned which can make a girl feel pretty special! I was glad I was able to be with my dad to lend some support and I was glad my guys did so well in my absence.

I have a couple of things (TOTALLY off the subject) to ask advice over:

1) how do you feel about those herbal cleansings to flush out the system? Anyone out there ever try one of those?

2) I'm seriously considering piercing stuff and I want to know of your experiences. My source tells me that getting your nose pierced is more painful than the clitoris. Any input from you bloggers? I personally find that hard to believe, but she swears the nose is worse.

3) Does it seem lame for a thirty something to get her nose pierced? Is that some mid-life "I'm trying to hold on to my youth" thing?

Do you want to be lame-fifty and wishing you hadn't been such a wimp 20 years before? By all means think about it, research, get the 4-1-1 from friends and bloggers, but if you want to pierce something...go for it! I'll go and have some GTs to help you through it! *G*

Well, I wanna get pierced too... and I will if I can get the hubby to ever allow it. (why is that I feel I need his permission anyway.... grr) But I won't be getting the nose done (grin)

I think that 1) nose piercings ARE sexy and 2) what's wrong with trying to hold on to your youth. Particularly when you ARE young? You've got the facial features that would look awesome with a nose piercing... if you want one go for it. Percings are becoming fairly mainstream.. a few people might think something, but does that really matter?

As for pain... I don't know about noses, but no one in their right mind actually pierces their clit... the standard piercings are either horizontally or vertically placed in the clit hood (the skin in front of the clit, that covers it). Anyway, all of the reading that I've done claims that a clit hood piercing is the easiest, least painful, and fastest healing piercing... so I'd say that saying something is worse isn't really saying much. If you really want some info, I could ask my niece; she used to have her nose done during college.

Mary woman! Do it...post before and after pics...pain or no pain, at least you'll have a story to tell. I'm all for the piercing...even though all I have is a tattoo!

I haven't ever thought of getting anything other then my ears done. I have such problems with just one hole in each ear, I would be afraid to anything else done. Might I add, I am wimp also......

As far as your dad's family goes, it is sad but at least they are there to help out. I know so many people who don't help when their parent is sick that they regret it afterwards.

Let us know what you decided.

Ro, you're a doll! Always so supportive! I'll take those GT's with or without the piercings, thank you very much! Not too much longer!

Lara, I did know about the HCP and the VCP. I'm actually seriously considering it, but I'm really concerned about finding someone reputable to do it. I still need to deal with the idea of some strange dude coming at my crotch (excuse the pun) with a needle. Even if it is the hood, that part of my body is so sacred and reserved for Craig!

Mary, thanks for the support re: my dad's family! They managed to move him into the facility today and all went well. My dad was there along with my uncles two sons. His daughter comes back at the end of the week. I think that they're all doing well despite thier strained relationship.

BG, I would post before and after pics of my nose, but the other...I don't think so. I know that there would be much to retell after the whole experience, I'm just not sure I have what it takes to go through with any of it.

    lol Mary,

Our 30's is when we are supposed to be brave and kinky. lol Lots of women in their 30's have their noses pierced here. I wouldn't..just because I'd always want to pick it! LOL At to the other...when I was about 33 I read the Story of O for the first time (And a few other wildly erotic classics beyond your run-of-the-mill porn)...and I must admit...at that point I'd have probably done anything! I didn't have "that" pierced...but I thought of many things I'd never considered doing before....and did do some of them! lol Still do. :)
All exclusively between hubby and me though. lol
